Hello Dave, please be aware that the ABC tests you have been using are in the beta testing phase as stated on the app, and may not be functioning correctly on all devices. We would suggest using alternative test kits to obtain accurate results. Our recommendations are as follows:

- KH: RedSea or Salifert
- Calcium: API
- Magnesium: RedSea or Salifert

Aaah. Ok. That makes sense. My API always comes back as 'indistinguishable'. Maybe the reagents aren't fresh.. I am not sure

I will request a support agent to send a detailed troubleshooting guide for your previous results. Meanwhile, I will attach the complete manual that you might have not received with the unit to check for everything.

This is an old thread, but has extremely relevant and helpful information. Does anyone have any updated data on specific tests. Ultimately, I just ordered their current build and am trying to determine the brands for most reliable, USA available and economically reasonable tests to run for the basics (NO3, PO4, KH, CA, MG, PH).


Including any possible recent updates to the product hardware or software, could someone give their recommendations as to which brand/s would be optimal (and how reliable) for each?

Based on our statistics, the most commonly used test kits with the ReefBot Lab in the US are:

• KH, PO4, Mg: Red Sea
• Ca, pH: API
• NO3: Tropic Marin Pro

Awesome - This simplifies a lot to get started!

You will need to purchase a pile of TM N03 kits just to get started. The part B bottle is tiny and the Part C bottle is only a few mL. For the test to run in the reefbot, the storage vials need to be at least half full, so that means at the minimum you need to keep 10ml of Part C in the vial. I don't have a bottle in front of me, but I am guessing at the minimum 3 full kits just to get the Part C vial to a usable state.

TM are great folks, but not willing to build a special kit for something like this or sell reagent "C" only in larger containers. It's a shame, but the kit is just not a good fit for the device even if it is likely the most accurate.
