Reef meets planted tank...

troiusmaximus · Nov 7, 2016

Went to the annual Aquatic Experience show in Chicago this weekend. It was my first time and it was amazing!!! I was really inspired by the aquascaping competition with all the planted tanks.

Anybody done a planted reef tank with macro algae and corals? Seems like we could elevate the art form to unknown heights.

The planted tanks were amazing! I would stare at them and they could take you to a different world. All were good in their own vision. I had a great time this year too. Even with the bum foot and pain.

I think people do the algae in the sump and refugium. I have seen some pretty cool ones from reefers. Just not at the level of hte freshies.

Planted tanks are amazing. I want to set one up really bad. "Brad's mangrove tank" is a pretty good example. Take a look at his thread.

Brad's mangrove tank came to my mind too. His is probably as close of an example of a Wabi Kusa Marinescape (if that is such a thing). Definitely one of the most unique and cool tanks on Reef2Reef (in my opinion)

I was sooooo busy at our booth, I did not get any pics. I will ask the rest of my crew if they got any.

Booth 234 across from the touch pool. We were usually surrounded by kids. Cincinnati Area Reef Enthusiasts

The top pic one overall grand prize. It was cool. I liked the bonsai tree one a lot too. Not pictured above though. :)
