I got the replacement part online but it looks different, the original one had a seal on the top, which is unremovable, the replacement part doesn’t have it.
Does it matter?

That “extra” part probably belongs in the pump and was stuck to the shaft and pulled out.
 
I THINK you just pulled out the bearing inside the pump body. The impeller assembly should just slide out without that part at the end. Try and use some force to pull that part off your old impeller.

If not contact the place where you got it from and see what they have to say
 
That "extra" is the bearing. IF it is stuck on the shaft soak it in vinegar for a while & then try to twist it off. If not soak it more until it comes off.

I pulled it too hard and broken it. Can the pump run without bearing?
 
NO, you need it.
Continue soaking it in Vinegar until you can push the shaft out.
IF the bearing broke you need to contact Coral Vue.
