So my girlfriend and I were looking to buy a digital camera for nicer photos in general but one thing I would love to be able to do is take great photos of my tank. What does everyone else use for reef photography to get those clear high res photos.

Some people get amazing photos with their phone cameras. I have an Iphone 7 and it wont do it. Some of us use a DSLR with a macro lens. I use a Canon 7i with a Sigma 105 macro lens.

Throwing money at gear won’t solve it. First you need to understand exposure, shutter speeds, Depth of field and I will say most important for reef tanks with LED is how to properly custom white balance for a tank. You can have the best gear but that doesn’t mean you are going to instantly get great results.
