That will likely be an issue with the relay, not the pump. All relays can fail and unfortunately yours happened to fail in the on position. It's likely just an unlucky failure. Someone posted a video earlier about cheap relays vs expensive ones and their failures, at the end of the day the cheap relays will almost always be good enough for our purposes but there is always a chance one will fail.

Actually, I changed the wavemaker to another relay and promptly burned that one as well. I have been advised that it is more than likely an inductive load as the wavemaker only draws 1A, but the relay is rated to 10A. I've been advised the following "
[11:46, 8/13/2018] Gaven Marines: If the 220v side then yes I really think that is the problem.
[11:47, 8/13/2018] Gaven Marines: Order a 1N4007 and place across the output of the relay. Make sure polarity correct. Leaded component. Will sort that out 100%"

I am running reef-pi-2.0.0-beta-7-pi3.deb on an RPI 3B+. it will not reload for me. I have re formatted and re installed and still nothing. Can anyone help?
Need more details. Can you share some UI screenshots. Please dont reformat and reinstall unless you know whats the issue, that will only make it harder and longer to detect whats wrong.

Hello reef2reef family,
I am happy to announce the immediate availability of reef-pi 2.0.0-alpha-0. This is the first alpha series build, which means its not a final 2.0 release, but its also not a beta release, i.e. no more breaking changes will be allowed after this release. We'll only work on bug fixes or any feature that can be implemented without breaking anything existing (unlikely, given the public release date is approaching soon). Major changes in this release:

Features:
  • Errors UI: Users will be able to see specific server errors via UI and clear them
  • UI validation on signin page by @Ranthalion
  • Send test email/sms from UI (to validate email configuration)
  • Allow editing existing timers via UI
  • Summary information now includes "error" details, and presented as a consistent footer
Bugfixes:
  • Timer UI was setting enable field to false, resulting in disabled timer job
  • Removed all mention of "Equipments" from the codebase, UI & api
Release builds can be found in usual location: https://github.com/reef-pi/reef-pi/releases/tag/2.0.0-alpha-0
Previous equipment setting (< 2.0.0-beta-7 ) will be lost. Other than that, everything should be fine.

Please give this a try if you have a test build or starting with a new build. I'll exclusively work on bug fixes and documentation till we hit the public release. If we dont encounter any bugs (... unlikely) this release itself will become the final 2.0 release

happy reefing,
ranjib

Nice. Do you like the ui changes ?

Yes it is simple and intuitive, and i like the editing function plus i do not need to restart all the time.Simple and working good.Next project dosing.Thank you Ranjib.

@Ranjib
I just updated from Beta-7. As you said, the equipment was removed.
However when I go to add it back in, it tells me that pin is already in use.
I have removed the timers that were using that equipment and reloaded, but I still get this error.

The admin page also says that it is in-use

Also, it will not let me delete the pin, as it says it still has equipment attached to it.

Found a bug (I think it was in there in beta-7 as well)
When you edit equipment then save, it flips the logic off>on or on>off.
Though I cannot see anything happening in the journal

I have noticed both of these (pin getting stuck with ghost equipment ) and on/off state is not enforced during equipment creation. The first one is a migration pain, and I think it won’t leave users in limbo (I.e they can overwrite things ), the second one is a minor bug and I’ll make sure I fix it in next alpha (or final )

Just to add context,
I upgraded my builds (all 5 of them) last night, during which I discovered these issues . But this was it :-) I didn’t expect anything from else. I still need to do more rigorous field testing of the diurnal profile , doser and macro. Lighting , equipment, timers, ato, temperature etc all looks ok

I updated just now and ran into this equipment bug. What is the best way to reslove it please? Other than (my best guess) uninstalling and re-installing?
What i did was:
1) installed the older version, take a screenshot of the equipment so that i have a reference for the equipment outlet association
2) delete all equipment while the older version is installed,
3) installed new version, use the screenshot to recreate the equipment in new reef-pi

I have the install files on the pi for Beta 7 and the Alpha.

How do I delete the installationand all the data and do a fresh install of the Alpha.

I'm busy searching for the Linux command to remove installation, but not winning.
