Dont get it. None of us tried it. reef-pi needs driver for this, and we have no clue how good it is. Currently only AtlasScientific EZO circuit is supported, once @Roberto_b 's pH board support is added in reef-pi (gonna take a month at least), you'll have some cheaper alternatives.
 
With these few day off I plan of finishing up my reef-pi. So how do you guy protect your temp probes? Liquid electrical tape or silicone?
I dont do anything. I have 6 probes in operations, and none of them has any rust. 4 of them are bare steel probes, while two are black powder coated, from canakit

I have used heat shrink and silicone.

Currently I am testing out something that is used in 3D printing to get ABS prints to adhere to a glass bed. It's an ABS slurry made from ABS plastic (offcuts) and acetone. I dipped the temp probe in this mixture and waited for the abs to completely harden - ie all the acetone had flashed off. I gave the probe 3 coats of this and it looks very good.
 
Oooh .. thats a cool trick. I didn't know you can bacon wrap a turkey. I always brush/baster the turkey, every hour. I bet this is better, :-) , Thanks for sharing,

Oh man! You guys are missing out. I always brine my birds. They have kits but you really just need a bag. You just season any way you want or follow a recipe found on Food Network web site. They have a bunch. Mainly involves a whole heap of salt. I use chicken broth and sump in a sliced orange, apple, fresh cinnamon sticks(a handful if you can), poultry seasoning, clove and garlic, fresh oregano basil and thyme. Slice the fruit up nice and small or you can just cut in slices. Get a cooler big enough to hold the turkey plus the brine.combine everything for the broth. Boil all ingredients for about 15 min, let cool and pour Over turkey and in bag. Ice overnight in the cooler, and then in AM, prep for baking.
Luckily this year we are going to have Thanksgiving dinner next weekend. Everyone has to work today and has other engagements, so it was a bad weekend.
 
Update on my PWM saga - I seem to have it sorted.

I tried the light on the Pi PWM and it worked. But I was reminded that this driver likes to have a ground connected from the PI.

I then reduced the PWM frequency on the PCA9685 from 1500 to the 100 tha tthe Pi was running on and connected it all up and nothing. Added the ground and Voila!

Very happy guy here.

Now my Reef-Pi Reboot design can be finalised with everything running on the Reef-Pi.
 
Oh and I forgot the most important part of the brine! The Kosher Salt! Sorry. You’ll need the whole box. You’ll only use a 1/3? Buy good for BAKING a [emoji490]. Turkey. Hahaha! Ok well I’ll see you soon

I see that the PH monitor build uses the same SDA / SCL pins (GPIO 2&3) as the PCA9685 uses. Can a single Pi3 run PWM lighting, a dosing pump and PH probe all on tise two pins? Is this what the I2C makes possible?

Thanks a fatty! Are you smoking your food this year? This is the first year that I’m not doing the turkey in my ugly drum smoker. I normally do a turkey and a couple faties.

Nice looking feast! What time we eatin'??? Are you trying to run the Jebao straight from the pi? I think you need a brushless DC controller.

Yes. Like one wire , i2c is a bus, and many devices can connect to it. Just like public transport, it has its own challenges that we should be aware of. One bad actor, pwm speed etc are something to watch out for.

We are going with Himalayan pink salt and saffron this year. Lots of thyme , rosemary and basil soaked stuffing (carrot, cerely , onion and bread crumbs )

As Ranjib said. You can use I2C over a few meters of wire, with special consideration (don’t use fast mode, increase pull-up resistors, etc).

I think the board we are using, like pca9685, carrier board for ezo circuit all have pull up resistor. In fact I worry sooner or later we'll hit a state where we have to recommend folks to take out some of these pull up resistors. But thats a good problem to have :-)

WOW[emoji779]️Man that looks intense! How long did the bacon macrame take [emoji23]. So here’s an idea to make yours even better! What would happen if I brined the bird before all that? It makes the meat so juicy tender. I mean it. I have always been the one to turn turkey down, just cuz it’s too way too dry the conventional zway. The makes the meat suck up the moisture and a little salt for flavor because of all the salt. I’m goin to try that!
 
How many devices can it handle?
I dont know yet, it really depends upon the setup (wire length, types of devices, i2c mode, pull up resistors etc). I have not hit the limit, at most I have connected three. But we are likely to use more (since MCP23017 , the io expander support in 3.0 , is also i2c based)
