I am going to post this here and see what I am missing, I am trying to clone a rpi image and pretty sure this has worked before, but when I create the image the /rootfs partition is not recognized. I am using DD and not doing it from the rpi booted, but for whatever reason the /boot partition is fine but the /rootfs is not. Just using plain ole dd if=/dev/sda of=/pathtoImage.img

Not sure why its not working..anyone has any thoughts let me know..:)

I've always used Win32 Disk Imager. It works great, never had a single problem with it.

Tried setting up remote access through VNC this weekend & ran into an issue with it.

Getting the error "Unable to connect via -IP Address- disconnected by proxy"

Anyone ever seen that before, or know what it may mean? Google has been no help.

I'm signed into VNC on the PI with the same account as I am on the phone. The Reef-Pi build shows up on the VNC app's devices screen on the phone, so it's definitely connected & available. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the issue.

Yeah i have an aversion to windoze, only use it when am getting paid to do so, lol (running linux ). Clonezilla works also, just at a loss as to why DD which is a sector based copy is not working...I will keep poking around and if I find something will post back.

I think I would be looking at tailscale as someone mentioned up above earlier in the post - https://tailscale.com/ much better alternative, IMHO.

Yeah I think you will find that its much better and more secure to boot. :)

have you tried bs=4mb ? how are you restroring the image? using dd? it should work

I am now back up and running reef-pi again! Lots of new development since the last time I ran it. I have been using reef-pi since June 2017 (I think beta builds back then) but I moved cross country in 2020 and sold off my old tank. I just set up a new frag tank, booted back up reef-pi, and upgraded to the latest version! Nice the see the project is still going strong. I now have a pretty complete Neptune Apex system and some Focustronic devices but I love tinkering and reef-pi is awesome for that

awesome. keep us posted. you know with new features comes new bugs :-)

have you tried bs=4mb ? how are you restroring the image? using dd? it should work

Yeah all of bs options and other options doesnt matter, not trying to even write the image, I can mount the .img file easy enough in linux and the rootfs is always unrecognizable and not mountable when using DD, it's not a good image. Now maybe its my card reader etc, but it's really odd since DD should work everytime.

No experience with non-official ones. However, are you looking at all models of Raspberry Pi? It doesn't have to be the latest, most powerful one. Reef-Pi runs just fine on the RPi 3 or even the Zero W.

I've actually done some reading up on various clones and the only one that I think MAY work would be the banna pi, all the others are to different with GPIO etc to work properly. IMHO the main issue is most and I think this applies to a banna pi also, they will not run raspbian. So you have to run a different OS and make sure you configure all the bits and see if it works and I have not seen anyone report out etc. If you do try it please post back with results.

Yeah but even lowly zero w are going over $40 on ebay etc, crazy prices. I have a couple of zero w that I purchased from Microcenter back in the day for $5ea, lol. Crazy times...

Yes, I'm looking at all the models, but they are absurdly expensive, especially the zero w, which is the cheapest, but it's very expensive, unfeasible for my project!

I researched a lot about compatibility and gpio, really the closest thing is the banana pi m2!
I'll get one of these then, it's 1/5 the price of the raspberry!!!
I will do the installation and all possible tests with the reef-pi and report here!

Connecting an ADS1015 with a TDS meter is working great! I use the PH tab and get a reading. around 410 is saltwater and around 200 is freshwater (uncalibrated).

Only when I calibrate the values are sticking between 7 and 12, it looks like the calibration part is only created for PH. @Ranjib can you include the possibility for Calibrating TDS in mg/l? The range will be from 0 up to 1200.

Yes, I can remember that there was a change only never tried it before. I am running version 5.1.
I can try the calibration again and show the results. Do you need any logs or other information as well to get a better understanding? And if so how can I find that info on my PI?

if its not working, just let us know at which step it is not accepting the target values. i can take it from there. we need logs etc, for bugs that are tricky and we can not produce easily
