Hi,

My reef-pi works great. I have temp and pH connected. There's one problem thou, it wont POST in some situations.

My setup:
Raspberry Pi 3B+
Latest linux (apt update and upgrade)
reef-pi 6.0
Cheap aliexpress analog pH board and pH probe
ADS1115 via i2c

I've connected the pH board to A0 on the ADS1115. I get readings and all is well. Temp probe is connected through the pH-board and reports temp.

If i press restart in the admin menu the raspberry reBOOT and then...nothing. Blank screen on HDMI-display.

If i disconnect the pH-probe = POST and BOOT ... then i can reconnect the probe and everything works as it should
If pH-probe is connected and i remove the ADS1115 (socketed) instead = POST and BOOT

I suspect something is going on with the ADS1115. Is it shorting or produce weird stuff on the i2c preventing the raspberry from POSTing? What am i missing here? Please help.

Kind regards,
Robert

Unfortunately I don’t know enough about coding raspberry pi to help. Not even being able to see the boot log error on screen makes it tough. I use my pi for a network server and never have to reboot it just runs for years.

Are you using an SSD for storage? I noticed when I switched to that, I cannot just do a reboot though SSH or I have the same issue. I have to do a hard reboot by cutting power to the Rpi. Doing that, it starts up with no issues every time.

Nope.
Nvme connected to usb.

My SSD is attached via USB as well. Sounds like the exact same problem. I can't even SSH to the rPi if I do a soft reboot, and the activity light on the SSD box doesn't flash like normal. Restarting reef-pi itself isnt an issue, so it's something with the rPi or the OS when using USB attached storage. I never had a problem with the SD card, but I use the flow meter addon with 4 flowmeters, and it would only be a matter of time before that amount of writes would kill the SD card.

I have a 12v to 5v buck converter that blew. Just guessing but RPi, USB-SSD and misc stuff connected draws more amps than my powerbrick kan supply (rated for 3A).
Need to rethink the power situation and casing. Have an idea to use an ATX power supply but this would create other problems.
