Reef Rocket Reactor

I wanted to share a small reef reactor I’ve been working on and refining over the past several years.

I originally designed it for my own aquarium, but it has also been tested and used by commercial aquarists in established systems for offices, businesses, and individual clients.

The idea is simple: a compact, easy-to-use media reactor that can be dropped into a sump whenever you need it. It works well for full-time use, but it’s also especially useful as a temporary problem-solving reactor when you want to run a specific media for a specific issue.

Because it’s small, fully submersible, and easy to clean, it’s a practical little tool for reef keepers who want a simple way to run bagged media without setting up a larger traditional reactor.

This is amazing. Curious if it could be modified to be 2x the height to hold 2x the chemipure? I am not a 3D printing guy, but have friends who are who could probably edit the files to make this a bit larger. Is that possible?

Certainly easy to do. Just download the models and stretch the middle cylinder.

Fantastic! Thank you. I've had chemipure on the shelf but I don't have so many reactors... Just ordered the pumps you recommend on Amazon. I have a sicce mi mouse I thought might work but it's too small. No problem; the pumps are very cheap and compared to the cost of even the smallest reactors out there this was a no brainer. Yeah you are correct. They are much less expensive than if you were to try and buy them outright. Plus they're much easier to maintain as well.

Question for you. Where did you get this connector bit?

There was a piece of stray silicone tubing I had lying around but I'm pretty sure you can just go to Home Depot or Lowe's or somewhere and pick up some silicone tubing. It deforms pretty well. All you gotta do is wedge it in.

The standard python tubing worked for me. Got 2 running in my cichlid tank. Plan to get 3 in my reef sump this weekend. I’m so happy for this. It really was what I’ve been looking for for some time. Thank you.
