ReefBreeders App Upgrade

Anyone else having issues with the ReefBreeders upgrade to the new app? Deleted both apps, did resets, etc. When I go through the process the device isn’t showing on WiFi to connect to.

Light was working great until I tried to upgrade. Now I can’t do anything and my corals are going to suffer until I find a resolution.

I was told by ReefBreeders that:

If it's still not broadcasting, you may have a damaged wifi chip. In that case, it will need to be replaced with a new one. You can find new chips- which are updated with new hardware and new firmware specifically for the new app here

The new app makes no physical change to your hardware, and would not have affected your chip in any way. The fault was already there, it just went un-noticed until you reset your light.

Meridian or photon? And a new app from the one that’s been around the last year? I’m not aware of any new app myself.

Photon. Upgrade from reef nexus to ReefBreeders app
Ahh okay.. you might need a chip upgrade then.. I know the first gen meridians will only hook up to the new app as a photon unless you update the chips.

Seems like something ReefBreeders should cover if the newer app isn’t compatible with the hardware? Sucks, light was working perfectly and now no light on the tank. Time is a ticking with my SPS

Not sure if this is possible? I'm still seeing Reef Nexus available on the play store. I wonder if you can reinstall it and connect to get your light working for now and then order the new chip. Just throwing stuff out there. I have two photons over my SPS tank and I was hesitant to change for this exact reason.

Yeah I tried that too and wasn’t able to get it reconnected.

I want to add to this thread. The response I got from Reefbreeders was rude to say the least. The gist was, should have upgraded to the new app sooner. No help, no suggestions, that was it. When I got the email for the change over I was unable to hook the lights up to the new app, and I looked in past emails, I didn't see where I asked for help then. I found my old post here which had 30 views no responses asking if anyone else was having trouble with the switch over. I am assuming that I need to upgrade to this new board everyone is talking about. One of my lights is three years old the other is one year old. Neither will connect. Reefbreeders is not helping I guess going off that email. I am pretty upset. Just an absolute crud show you know? Why would switching over to an app brick a light?

I have been running the app for awhile and all was good.
Went to adjust levels and it won't let me.
I have reset photon and deleted and installed the app again with no luck.
Sent email to RB but no response yet.
Any ideas as to why it won't adjust levels.

Sounds like it got disconnected from wifi.. check your wifi on your phone and see if you see reefbreeders and reconnect it.. worst case hold the button on the light and reset it to factory settings and reinstall the light in the app.

I got it. I had not changed it since I set it up. I did not press done, man getting older has its days, lol.
