Over a year ago I had a friend crack his reefer and sump while moving houses. He didn’t want to deal with trying to repair it so he gave it to me. The bottom pane of glass had 3 large cracks 10-15 inches each and went into the overflow so it wasn’t going to be an easy fix.
I couldn’t silicone a piece of glass on top of the cracked piece because they went into the overflow, and replacing the glass seemed too risky let alone the cost. I decided to try sealing the cracks with a silicone product and then pouring marine grade epoxy resin over the entire bottom piece and into the overflow, I poured the resin about 1/4 inch thick in the display and roughly 2 inches into the overflow (because it was all I had remaining already mixed and the overflow was far worse off).
With the display repaired I turned to the sump, I had two pieces of shattered pieces that divided two chambers that I had to remove and I replaced them with 1/4 inch acrylic sheets.
After it seems like months of fixing this tank, fixing the sump, building the new stand, I am finally planning on doing the tank transfer tomorrow… as of now I haven’t done a great job documenting, but here are a few photos that I do have. Will update after the transfer is complete
