Hi all,

We are very excited to start a new build here at ReefHacks.com - This build is based on a Red Sea REEFER 170 tank and the full Reef Care Program. We run different systems by using very different methods, but we have never tried before the Reef Care Program. It's super exciting to try this method. The tank is set, time to choose the equipment now ...

I was working on the scape on the weekend. Sure it's not the first time I'm using the Marco Rocks, but I like it very much the new Two Little Fishies STAX Rock. It's super easy to create a scape, and it provides a lot of sweet, flat, spots for corals. ;)

Light is set as well, I was a little bit concerned about the noise of the fans at first, but for a small fixture you can run them at 4V, so you can barely hear them. T5s mmmm ...;Woot

Started the cycle here. With the Red Sea Starter Kit REEF MATURE. On the day #8 here, everything is going smooth. Water is very cloudy with bacterial bloom. Adjusted the light with Seneye REEF to the preferred PAR levels. Here is the PAR readings map for the 24" ATI Sunpower fixture with 8 bulbs ON. The fixture is 8" over the water surface. ;Woot

Wow, that was a busy month! A quick update on the build guys. The system is cycled and doing very good.

We've used the Red Sea Mature Reef Kit with dry STAX Rocks. So sure the cycled was not done in 21 days like it's saying on the package, but it was a beautiful, smooth 30 days cycle with full cycle lights ON and no algae at all, just a slight covering of diatoms.

This is on day 21 for example:

I've updated the first post with all the links and detailed build information.

Added also x2 Reefbrites Tech Actinic colors. The PAR jumped to about +100 PAR on each reading from my previous measurements posted here. I love them!

At this moment there are two fishes, one Diamon Goby and one Tangaroa Goby. One Fire Shrimp and a Candy Pistol Shrimp, but I never see this one hehehe ...

Added a few SPS frags for a test, they look happy and with good PE!

Also very happy with the doser from GHL, I'll switch my Pacific Sun on the REEFER 250 as well later.

Nerite snails just can't stay inside the tank! Found all 7 today on the floor running all around. ;Bored

Two MP10 on the back wall in Reef Crest 100%. On the left and right from the overflow box, I like when the flow hits the front glass and reflects on the front of the scape. ;)
