Worst thing: system crash due to negligence (turns out being an icu nurse in a pandemic is a bad idea if you want time to reef!)
Best thing: great excuse to rebuild!
1. What was the BEST thing in reefing that happened for you in 2020?
Red sea peninsula tank in my classroom hitting the ~1 year mark and seeing the curiosity it brings in students as coralline forms, torches are added, and discussions had about global threats to coral reef biomes. Optimistic there are a few more scientifically and ecologically minded people out there now.
2. What was the WORST thing that happened to you in reefing in 2020?
Best and worst has been the quarantine process. Incredibly time consuming. But folks like @Humblefish and @Fordfamily (can’t remember the name) have altruistically been a lifesaver. I’ve lost some fish but without the reef2reef community, things would be titanically worse. Much gratitude to this community.
I need to revise my best thing that happened..... I bought a roller mat and threw out all socks. It is great not having to clean them every other day. I bought a bigger roller mat than needed and it will probably last 3-4 months per roll.... bubble magnus brand.
Well, after a tank crash in late 2019, 2020 had me do a restart with the aquarium. I was very fortunate this year as I havnt really had anything bad happen. Like I was expecting at least one algea bloom but nope. Nothing. Although, I did lose one fish. I think that was the only negative.
