Wife has been understanding and supportive of this new (and expensive) hobby of mine, but Marriage is so much involved and complicated. Love them both, but the wife has place of primacy.

The only time my wife paid any attention to my tank at all when I had majano anemones. After she killed them all (with a vengeance) she totally forgot where the tank was.

Marrage? Why bother. I am 63 in good physical shape, living with a beautiful Lady of 42 (for now). Marrage? I have sailed around the world, lived in the Caribbean for over a year, dived the Great Barrier Reef, The Red Sea and the Indo Pacific. I spent 25 years as a product design engineer aquired 2 PhD's, spent 15 years as a Post Graduate Professor at MIT.

Marriage would have only slowed me down, the Ladies come and the Ladies go, when one leaves another will follow. I go where I want when I want, I spend what I want, when and on what I want. My current home is mine and I choose to occasionally share it with a lovely Lady.

Far to many men marry because parents, social pressure or because they do not know what else to do. Marrage today has a better than 50% chance of winding up in a divorce court, a man stands to loose everything. On the other hand a single man goes where he pleases, dose what he wants and answers to no one except himself.

A few months ago, my wife tells me I should get rid of my tank we could have gone on a lot more vacations. Let's see. I have been keeping saltwater for 40 plus years. I've been married to her for 21 years. My first passion will stay. Probably her too.

A few years ago a Lady I was dating gave me 2 Boise Aviation headsets for my birthday at a grand each. I did not marry her. Traded in both the Lady and the aircraft in for a nicer model.

I kept the headsets though and I still use them.

however, the same rule applies to both and I give the same advice to younger folks starting out in either hobby...

Be really careful what you put in your tank and do a TON of research before taking the plunge. NO COMPULSIVE DECISIONS!!!

Follow those two rules, pay attention and be patient and you'll do great at both.
