Hi all,

Bought a reefmat 500 18 mos ago. Started having problems with it on and off after a year.

I constantly get “mat Jammed” or “setup error 2” messages.

***the mat looks flawless when I press the manual feed on the app or the buttons on the unit!!! This is how I know that the roll is not installed wrong and I’ve installed about 100 of them.

I bought a new motor for the drive unit, did the same thing. So I bought a new drive unit and a new take up shaft. Just installed the new drive unit, so essentially the only electronic part of the reefmat, paired it, it ran fine in manual…”ERROR SETUP #2” with all the bs reasons for it in the list, none of which are applicable.

This is driving me NUTS! Not only am I now into this thing for almost the exact same price as the reefmat itself in replacement parts, but o have not had steady mechanical filtration for months! My tank is suffering from it.

Somebody out there…please help!

I am not sure this will help but here are two tips:

1) When I put in a new role, I use a strip of blue painters tape to make sure the dirty end of the new roll is connected/taped to itself. This ensures the unit does not spin needlessly. I don't think this is strictly necessary since but someone else recommended this to me and it has worked well.

2) Many people set the mat advance length to the minimum. This is a bad idea since this causes the motor to run many many times a day. Better to set the mat advance length to an few inches. I made the switch and my mat usage was either stable or decreased. The decrease may not be because of Thai change but due to my tank maturing.

This is probably more helpful than what I posted. May the reef gods bless you.
