What is everyone using to make aquascapes. Specifically what type of rods to secure larger pieces together. Any help much appreciated.

Hello newer member!

To answer your question, for rods, I believe most use inexpensive fiberglass driveway markers found at your local hardware store:

I'm not sure where in California you are, but I would assume you could order those from anywhere, even if you are in Suny SoCal.

That said, I think those rods are best used to secure large rocks in large aquascapes, where the most important thing is to simply keep the rocks in place. You need to drill down into the rock to slide the rods in place, which is not always easy to do.

If what you're really asking is, "How to I create one of those way-cool looking rock aquascapes", then I think what you are really looking for is things like super glue with a quick set spray. Here's a BRSTV video on building a "fancy" aquascape that should help:

Good luck!

I used Life Rock Arches, and in a few places, I drilled holes and super glued acrylic rods into pieces to make some extensions.

I drill my rocks and insert acrylic rods into them before cementing them together. I just got them from amazon.
