What is the average growth rate of chaeto? How long can it take for chaeto to grow double from about the size of your fist under good flow and 300 par (white spectrum) for 12hours per day assuming water is dirty.

When I had my 40+30, A softball size of chaeto would double in size in about 2-4 weeks under a Kessil H80 running for 10-12 hrs a day. Not sure of the par, but it was near max strength.

Awesome! I just want to get a feel for growth rates so I know when to harvest.

What is your indicator for when it’s time to harvest?

I would harvest when it was taking up about 70% of the refuge, or when we went to the LFS since they would give us store credit for it.

Always made sure to leave a softball size left.

I don't know that there is a fixed growth rate for Chaeto. It may vary from tank to tank, depending on water conditions.
