Hello everybody,
I have just purchased the VBR-Aqua Vabira par-meter, and I have questions about its reliability
I get 500 from Par, the sensor in the middle of the aquarium and at water level
Test carried out with a hydra 32 HD purchased in 2020 at 30cm from the water level
The results seem consistent to you?
If anyone is interested I plan to do the same test with a new radion x15 g5 blue

Sorry for my broken english:beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I have the newer VBR Aqua with the lens that are not as see through as the older model. I just purchased the apogee mq-510. Tested them both over my waterbox 50.3 running 2 ai prime hd’s. Found that the apogee reads higher par than the VBR. I tested 3 areas In the tank for comparison with return pump and wave makers off. Apogee tested 145, 100, 150
While in the same three spots the VBR tested 96, 50, 100.

I have the same probe as the bottom one circled in pic. From what I understand it’s the newer sensor that is not as see through as the older one.

mine has been fine. I have the more opaque sensor so have been multiplying by 1.17. It certainly more accurate than my seneye which reads about 2.5% higher than the VBR (and outside the realm of possibility given what my lights are set to).

the multiplier recommended by @telegraham was to have it be around the results of the apogee500, i believe. the results will be much more different when comparing the apogee510 to the VBR aqua.

nonetheless, for roughly 200$ i’d rather have this than either of the apogee, or the seneye. i can use the extra 300$+ for more critters or tank supplies

I agree with you
I'm not close to 50 PAR
I will add 50 PAR more for safety, i might have the opportunity one day to rent one or compare it with another better quality par-meter
Thank you again for your feedback ;)

That's incorrect. The VBR multiplier is only for the new VBR sensor. The old VBR sensor does not need a multiplier to align with 510 readings.

When I share numbers, they're captured on a 500 and immersion corrected to 510 values.
