Hi there new to the hobby looking for some help. Recently bought a Red Sea G2 max Nano XL at the AQUAH show in the UK. So far I’m absolutely loving it photos attached however I do find my return pump is quite loud.

I have a TMC ReefCompact 1500 which I was using as my water changes/ spare pump would that be a suitable replacement and I have seen a fair few people say the stock pump is too powerful should I turn it down to a lower power setting?

Cheers!

Bumping your post!

I use it at 100%, but only because I have a chiller plumbed in and needed more power than the stock pump would supply. Imo, just use best judgement for flow, start at 50% and move up or down depending.

Are the G2 nano good tanks do they leak or any stories of them leaking??

I don’t think so, just a AI Axis style one.
Would you say I should get the AI Axis 40 or 90? Is there any Problem with surface film when you use less than the 400 gph (standard red Sea return pump)

I probably get less return flow than stock set up because water gets pumped to floor where chiller is and don’t have a problem with surface film. If a normal set up, imo 40 would work fine.

Is the Tank size actually 60x50cm? The stand should be a Bit less Right? I would Like to get phenolic plywood between Tank and stand to Support the floating Front Glass.
