How hard is it to remove existing glass baffles from a tank?

I'm trying to replace what came in my tank with a simple overflow box.

It depends on how tightly they were installed and how easy it is to get to the joint. IME I have used thick fishing line, piano wire, or something comparable to make these types of alterations, but one of the challenges is getting the wires started because of the tight quarters. Good luck!

Guitar strings.....

Cut silicone like butter....also, cut fingers the same, so caution!

And strong and thin enough to go to almost no space between glass.....

Of course, remove seam first, and dont underestimate how easily is to cut fingers or hands with thin guitar string....

Tried fishing line and its too think to get between the seam. I also tried tying fishing line to both ends of a safety razor and was only able to get an inch before breaking the razor blade.

I really don't want this tank to go to waste so I might have to try them guitar strings. Is there a particular brand or size I should be looking for?

Can I break the baffles out in pieces and scrape the remaining glass and silicone? Or is there a high probability the tank will break also?

I am considering entering the hobby with a different tank at this point.
