Ha ha ha …. yeah, all the times I speculated idly about why this or that died …. not much ambiguity here. I was a tad too aggressive in drilling out the rivets though, even machine screws won’t work now.

Thanks so much for the post. Super easy thanks to the learning above. Getting the rivets out correctly was the hardest part. My unit is like new now.

Just ordered mine from Amazon and will replace it finally. I’ve had mine since 2013 and it’s been dead for years! Crazy how they want over $200+ for a replacement.

It's the same 18AH 12V, however it's LIFEPO4.

I think.... If you are going to use a LifePo, you need to use an appropriate float charger for a lithium battery. That and I heard that lithium and NSW are not friends so you have to keep the enclosure in a dry place.

No modification required. Mine is charged with the stock supply that came with the Ecotech battery.

It should fit. I know others have used Miady batteries. Mine has two smaller Miady packs.

I have replaced mine with a LiFepo4. It works fine.

The charger that comes with it is a generic Eaton charger. It has both over charge and temp protection for the battery it's charging.

How do you control them on/off and regulate power etc? If it were that easy I would run everything off of one big backup, via a couple power-strips

The Eaton EAC145160 controls the power going in.

It's not the most inexpensive option at $70, but this Renogy battery is a direct replacement. Fits perfect and weighs about half of a Lead Acid.

I did have to replace the stock O-ring connector with larger spades for them to fit in the Renogy's screw terminals. Because they are taller it also puts them pretty close to the screw tabs of the housing so I put some electrical tape on them to be safe.

So far, so good. 12.9 volts. Still charging to full. I'll let everyone know if I have any issues.

Correct. It’s a smart idea to use a lifePo4 charger or you could kill the performance, damage, or shorten the life span of the battery. Lithium bats don’t charge like a lead acid
