Hi,
I'm currently waiting for my tank that is 60 x 24 x 25. It is drilled for 2 x 1" returns. I'm in the process of getting a sump and I have the option to get either 1-1/4" or 1" bulkheads. I read somewhere on the forums that it is better to go 1-1/4" pipes (to reduce restriction?) for the returns and then reduce to 1" on the bulkhead flow output. Oh, the return pumps will be dual Varios-8 (1 pump on each return). The stand is 36" height. I was told by someone that for a 150 gallon tank, 1-1/4" pipe is too big and I won't get enough output pressure flow. He suggested it is better to go with 1" pipes and then reduce to 3/4" output to get enough flow pressure. So I'm looking for opinions and feedbacks. Should I stick with the 1-1/4" piping and will that give me enough output pressure? Or go with 1" piping and 1" output flow? or 1" piping and 3/4" output flow? Any advice and recommendations will be appreciated. This will be my first saltwater tank and apologize for the noobie questions.
Thank you.
