Ok so I came across an old aquapod 12 gallon aio and I thought hey why don't I use this as a sump with a huge refugium since the glass is scratched horribly and I don't forsee myself buffing it out and setting it up. So my question is what kind of return pump can i use that will fit in the back chamber of an aquapod 12. It currently has an eheim 600 but I'm thinking this is a little weak to pump the water up that high. Any nano sized returns that anybody can suggest or any other modifying ideas anybody have? I'd like a mag 5 but it won't fit. I'm open to ideas, thanks guys.

You can go up to 1200 maxijet. But 600 should work since you don't want water flow to be very high in a refugium.

Yea the maxijets footprint is too large anyway. But you believe that 600 can pump the water that high?

I'm going to be using a overflow box because the tank is not drilled. But I would guess around 4 feet from pump to DT.

What size is the space you are putting the pump in; check out the eheim compact plus pumps. great head pressure. The compact pumps are smaller, maybe even look into those.

Not sure of the dimensions you need but look at the Rio pumps as well. I used to use one in my old BC29

This is a very small chamber I'm afraid not much can fit in there. I have an eheim 600 that barely makes the squeeze.

If that's the case, what you are using is probably the best you are going to get. The eheim pumps are my favorite, that one with the head pressure for a bc29 I believe will be severely under powered. If you can't figure a way to increase the size of the chamber, maybe even pulling it apart and re-siliconing in the dividers. You may have to find an external pump.

I was actually thinking about doing just that because then I could make the baffles how big I want and I could then just opt for the mag 5 return which I think will be my bets bet. I guess I gotta break out the Dremel and silicone, thanks for the ideas guys.
