putting the heater in my sump. I never thought of that. Get rid of some unnecessary wires in my DT.

Every up-side has at least one matching down-side:
  1. remote heater will need to be larger due to heat-loss from the sump and return pumbing
  2. your display tank is at risk of having no heat in the event of a return pump failure
I would personally opt for a right-sized heater in the display. Or at least one-size-down from right, if that means you can fit/hide it better.

Out of the four pages, I don't recall anyone talking about the Abyzz line or even Royal Exclusiv Red Dragons.

The person didn't talk about spending limit, he just said reliable. Not sure I would classify some of those lower discount names reliable equipment.

Here are some side by sides of an Ecotech L1 and a Red Dragon 80watt.

I think I've just been told I don't qualify as an "anyone"!:D:D:D

If I were in a position where I needed the most reliable pump I could get, I would probably go with the Royal Exclusiv. These come with a very high cost, but are very high quality.
From the 3rd post in the thread.

If you want a good quality pump, go with the Royal Exclusiv or the Abyzz. Don't go with the Vortech.
From the 8th post in the thread.

It happens to all of us! ;)

It wasn't long ago I was criticizing a thread for not making a certain point. The embarrassing part was that I had actually made the point earlier in the thread. Ooops.
