Hello,

My RFA was picked at by a file fish. I got rid of the file fish and was hoping this guy would recover. I’ve been putting him near rocks but its foot won’t fully hold on, maybe a corner holds into the rock. But it always turns face down, is closed up, limp, and the foot of him looks pale. He moved over to the corner of the tank (in the picture). I’m pretty sure he’s knocking on deaths door but wanted to see if anyone could confirm or give advice

It looks a little beat up but it should be fine, it just needs time to heal.

I would put it into a plastic cup with rubble for now, to help it grab hold and to protect it from the flow. Cut a couple of small holes in the cup for some flow.

Great idea to put him into a cup or isolation tank within your main tank. If he dies you want to get him out as soon as possible. You don’t want the mess of him disintegrating or getting eaten. I had 2 die on me. The second we had in an isolation tank with sand and rocks. He still died but we could get him out quickly. He had gotten rather slimy.

Nope, he died. It started to get all gooey and began falling apart the next morning.

I’m still not sure why.. these guys were happy for awhile and then both died within a week of each other

Thanks. Hoping to get another one sometime. If any of you have any tips or things I should test to make my future RFA thrive, let me know!

Interesting, I’ll have to ask where they came from before I buy them next time. Any idea why?
