Great looking tank Ricky... did I see correctly that you're running Phoenix 14k Metal Halides and UVL Super Actinics and ATI Blue+ bulbs? I've been looking at this combination but am worried that it will be a touch too blue. Any suggestions?

Yes, that's my bulb combo. It's not too blue, it doesn't look like a 20,000K if you're worried about it being that blue.

I think I'm going to purchase a used AquaC EV-180 from Craigslist. I found a EV-240 for $200 but it's too tall to fit under my sump. I'm going to sell the EV-120 to my neighbor. I think my skimmate is on par with some of the results I'm seeing with the Octo Extreme from RC so I want to stick with the AquaC. Does anyone have their opinions on this subject?

Personally I think you are way under skimming with that skimmer from the looks of your picture. I am seeing some very good results from the Octo but still feel you are under cutting the cost factor. With your bio load I would be running something a bit bigger like the Octo 300 or better yet upgrade to a Vertex or some other high end skimmer.

A new beginning . . .

I placed my order for a new generation II Vertex IN-180 protein skimmer. I read many good reviews for this skimmer and it comes with a 1 year manufacturer warranty. It should be here some time next week!

Thanks Marvin, I added more flow towards the Birdsnest so the algae growth on the tips should subside, I also stopped dosing potassium as this was burning some of the SPS tips.
