How does everyone with a rimless tank handle lids? A lot of the fish I want would be considered jumpers so I'd need some kind of screen or canopy. That seems like it kinda ruins the point of the rimless tank though.

Then related to that, a lot of rimless tanks are not drilled. I'd either need to drill the tank and add an overflow or go sumpless and hide the equipment somehow. AIO tanks tend to be short front-to-back which makes aquascaping difficult. I'm thinking a corner overflow is best but if I'm doing that and putting on a screen... isn't it just going to look like a regular black trim tank anyways?

Any suggestions? A lot of the tank sizes I'm looking at only seem to come in rimless models these days but it all seems to counterproductive.

I use the Red Sea kits.
So my tank is 72”
I made 3, 24” mesh lids to cover.
I put in two feeding doors so I don’t need to remove the screens much.
The white squares are just to block lights over pumps, so they stay clean.

Not sure what you mean by rimless tanks don’t come drilled. Most of the systems out now seem both rimless and drilled with an overflow. I just hit a NYOS with the external overflow and custom lid. Looks great even with the lid. Yeah the lid does take a little away from it but it’s much nicer than the old black plastic rims.

I think it is because I just want the tank not a system with stand and sump. Anything past 30 or 40g seems to only sell as a kit which means spending an extra $1500+ on something I don't want.

Thinking 36x18 or 48x24 footprint but only 18 tall.

Your image looks great. Sometimes pictures and reality can have a different feeling. Do you think it looks clean and finished in person? Some of the tank dimensions that I'm considering only come in rimless and I'm worried that adding an overflow and a screen on top might make the whole thing look DIY or unplanned. Do you have a built-in overflow or one of the small boxes on the back?

Maybe glass cages or another custom aquarium maker? They have a rimless options.
I'm not looking for rimless per se but rather the size tanks that I'm looking at seem to be rimless. Something deeper than 18" but only 18-20" tall which keeps bringing me back to Waterbox Clear or UNS tanks which are both rimless and undrilled. I'm worried that I will convince my wife to let me spend the extra money on the nicer tank and then when I throw a mesh on top and drill for an aftermarket overflow that it will look DIY and I'll be in... trouble. God forbid if I break it while drilling, I'll be living under the remaining panels out in the back yard lol.

Oh gotcha. Then how about the Aqueon Reef Ready? Maybe they’ll have something close to your size.
