RIP Goniopora?

Hello,

I recently bought (update purchased 10 days ago) 2 goniopora. One is doing well and fully extended however the other has partially extended but most of the time is open but not extended this morning I have noticed that it has lost a polyp overnight. I have attached a picture of it normally and a picture now. It appears to me the skeleton is turning brown can you please advise on the best course of action for this Goni I love its color.

I also have a small amount of Dinos going on, which I am hoping to correct.

Parameters:

All test except for phosphate is Salifert.
Salinity: 1.025
Alk:8.3
Calcium: 445
Magnesium: 1470
Nitrate: 0ppm
Phosphate: 0

One thing I can say is you may want to get your nitrates and phosphates detectable. Could be one of the reasons it is not happy. But yes I agree with giving it time as well. Some corals take some time to become happy when first introduced.

Yeah im going to start dosing as soon as possible. going to get nitrates today. Ive been feeding pretty heavily but to no avail. Ive also been feeding Redsea AB+ daily. every 3rd day target feeding.

Well, its not your parameters if your other one is fine, maybe its placement or lighting, but I doubt that would cause it to loose polyps. Maybe someone is nipping at it. What are your other tank inhabitants

Travis makes his own nitrates and phosphates and sells very reasonably.

I just got a red one last week. I opened and extended for the first 2 days. Then it stopped extending. I have moved it to less flow and it is extending more but not all the way yet. Yours looks like it lost that one polyp. I am hoping it just takes some time. Added another green one a few minutes ago. Time will tell.

The other goniopora that is doing good is one inch to the left of it lol. 2 clowns a wheelers goby. one small hermit and 2 nassarius.

I think goniopora sometimes take a while to adjust and fully open up, especially if they have 24+ hours of travel. Attached are images of a goniopora I received last Wednesday on the day received, 1 day after being in the tank, and 2 minutes ago (the white goniopora, closeup also).

Also, you may want to feed more small particulate foods, both to help with the dinos and to keep the goniopora happy. Unlike most corals, they derive a large percentage of their nutrition from food and not photosynthesis. I feed mine a range of planktonic foods including rotifers. I've seen some larger polyps going after small mysis and cyclops, but mostly they tend to like very very small particulate foods.

Good luck I hope it opens soon. They are so beautiful. I moved this particular one from no flow, to some flow to where the other goni is now. Picture attached.

Yeah the problem is this comes from my LFS. Both my Gonis so no travel, its literally 5 minutes from me. I got the one thats doing poorly a week before i got this one.
