Sweet tank! I am going to be upgrading to a 40B soon from my 27cube and I was also thinking about going with a barebottom tank. What made you want to do that in this tank?

Thank you! My 75 gallon had a 3-4 inch sandbed for a couple years. I always had phosphate and algae problems. I moved the tank once and scooped most of the sand out. After the move the sps showed improved color and growth. I started vacuuming the rest of the sand out during water changes until I hit BB. I love it and won't go back to sand probably again. I like lots of coral in my tank anyway so now I can fill up the bottom space or even grow coral on the bottom now. I decided this tank not to do sand at all.

I know he had some at MACNA but I don't know if he sold them or not. You can send them a PM here and see if they have any left.

This is what happened to my yellow wrasse because I didn't have a sandbed in the tank. He dove into the glass bottom and broke his back. Surprisingly he lived two weeks after that and I couldn't bring myself to euthanize him because I was wishful thinking he would heal.

Updated pic,

Added 3 BTAs. One Rainbow from coralcollection and a green and a rose from Aqua SD. The rose from AquaSD is turning into the nicest of them all. It's up top soaking up all the light though. The green one hid for a few days and now is a dull color. It's back out in the light now so I'm hoping it colors back up.

Do you have a lot of flow at the bottom of your tank? Does the sand get blown out of the "bowl"? I've been wondering if this works long term.

Not a ton of flow. I have 2 Koralia 1050s on each end. The flow doesn't blow the sand out. The yellow wrasse flings a little out when it dives in. I vacuum it up when I do water changes and and fresh sand to it when needed. So far I've only had to add a little sand to it once. I do wish the bowl was a bit deeper. The sand I'm using is really fine so next time I'm going to add a little larger grain.
