anyway, tank is looking good man. keep up the good work. hope that BTA is better.

Thanks Marvin. :)

Can you take your coral out and show them too? Nice big clam.

Sure. :D I should have taken pics when I moved the tank. All my corals were in the living room watching TV.

Eco Gorgs! I've never been a gorg person but I saw these at MACNA and had to have one. Problem was they sold them all before I jumped in and decided to order some. I've ordered from these guys before when they were coralmorphologic.com and was happy with my order. It's Aquascapers.com now.

Blinks.... Blue clove polyps? Not as in the Blue Clove Polyps I got from you? Yikes you gave me Triffids!
OK actually, it's staying on the rock, and looks great. The Christmas Favia that I think I see in your first pics of the tank, is happy in my 75. The purple and the Dragons Breath are both looking awesome in my 24JBJ, such colour! I can't see why anyone that doesn't have Tangs etc. Doesn't have them in their tanks, they add such colour.
In fact, everything I've gotten from you has been so healthy, and settled so well. So please let me know when you next frag the red Zoa, I'd love a piece of that too, if you please.

Believe it or not that's not the first time I've seen the term "triffids" used in reef keeping. The first time it was used to describe aiptasia and I had to google to find out what the term meant. I googled it again after you posted this and got this from wikipedia;

Since 1951, when The Day of the Triffids was first published, the word "triffid" has become a popular British English colloquial term used to describe large or menacing looking plants.

So yes, you got triffids from me. My apologies. Large, no...menacing, yes.

They can't be isolated like GSP or Xenia They are brooders that release free swimming larvae that can settle anywhere in your tank. I have them in my sump.

Honestly I like the coral but at this point it's too much. They don't seem to bother softies or LPS but they can kill sps and smother zoas or palys. I am pushing the 3 year mark for this tank and 4 years of having this coral so something was bound to take over.

And yes when I frag the palys You'll be the first with a frag. :)

What's really ironic is the that they find that salt water kills the Triffids.

Hey JD, when do we get to hear and see the 120G build progress?

For those fans of Blue Clove Polyps...I don't apologize. :D I have fluke tabs in my possession and I will be nuking the tank tonight in an attempt to completely eradicate them. Once this is successful I will make the same treatment on my frag tank so no cloves can be transferred back in. Wish me luck!

How do you treat with the tabs? I heard they kill Xenia too. Have you heard that?

Yep. They kill all Xenia. From reading, the usual treatment is 1 tab per 100 gallons. I crushed a whole tab and dissolved it in RO water and dumped it in the sump. I'll update the progress. I'm hitting the frag tank next pending a good outcome from the display. I should have done it the other way around but that wouldn't make for a good thread would it?

I've been using a LEDtric par38 led (that I won here on R2R) as my fuge light. It has been working really well but it's a little too bright and too close for the chaeto and it's turning white on top. I removed the optics from it to give the light more spread on not be such a laser beam on the chaeto. I think the wider spread will help it grow even more.

24 hour update!

I came home and found EVERY blue clove completely closed. The water is slightly cloudy and I lost my cleaner shrimp. Some of the turbo snails look bad but many more are still on the glass eating. The nassarius look fine. Not one coral other than the blue cloves appear affected.

I haven't seen these zoas in forever and now there they are.

I even see some type of sps encrusted on a rock from who knows what but it's alive and I can see it. My mandarin is having a feast with all the new open rock to feast on pods.

Here's a before and after. I'll take another tomorrow.

I can see why you had to nuke the tank, you've some very nice zoa's that have been hidden far to long.

Are those the LEDs they sell on eBay how long have you used them?

These are Evolution LEDs from Reefkoi. I thought the Chinese eBay ones were the same but I have one of those too and there is a different amount of blues to whites. I have had them for 1 year and 6 months.
