I bought a tds meter separately from my RO/DI system, the three ways that came with the tds meter do not have the little blue clips.
I’ve inserted the RO tubing into the fittings and tugged on them and they have not come back loose. Same with the meter probe itself.

Am I good to pressurize the unit to begin making RO/DI water?

These are the blue clips I’m referring too.
Those will just prevent you from compressing the fitting unintentionally ... I don't have them on any of mine and it's fine. Think of them as "baby proofing"

It should be fine assuming the little white collars on your fitting are not pushed in. The purpose of the blue clip is to prevent accidental depression of the white collar that allows release of the connection. You can try releasing the pipe by pushing in the white collar to get the idea. You can buy the blue collars cheaply on eBay etc, worth adding them in the long term to prevent an accidental disconnection, not a big deal in the short term,

You are OK to use the unit without the clips. I like using them as an added safety, but I'm really not sure it matters. They are cheap enough that I figured I would use them. My LFS has them, BRS has them, many places have them, and they come in different colors, too. BRS has red for 1/4" and black for 1/2" connectors.

Yes I was going to mention that some speed fits have the blue clips. Most do not .. You are ok.

I use a separate tds unit / pen . The inline ones never seem to last for me . I also have separate discounts to test the water at different stages to know when to replace cartridges
