I have just purchased a used RO/DI unit, 4 stage 75 gph. It is the BRS system.

It was a year old and used for about that same time. I am not going to be setting this up for at least 3 or 4 months.

Two part question, Should I leave the water in it or drain it?

And should I replace all filters including the RO membrane?

Cheers!!

I would remove all the filters/membranes and purchase new when you are ready to use.

Leave the water in, change the cartridges, leave the membrane.
The membrane is the only thing that should stay wet, the rest probably dry is better, but don’t think it matters much either way

You could easily get three years out of the membrane if it was working properly. When you hook it up, see what your tds is and take it from there

BRS uses color changing di resin. If its brown, change it

+1 on leaving the membrane, no sense in throwing out something that is probably good for another few years.

I would replace them all and start fresh. I just pulled out my OLD trust Spectrapure RODI thata was stored wet and not used for nearly 3 years, membrane is toast, over 50 ppm coming out of a 98% rejection membrane.

I am hoping only to have this unit sitting for only about 3 months.
