I believe I have read on here that using RO water as opposed to RODI water could result in diatoms. I have an under-the-sink RO unit. I use it for top offs and my water changes. I have a bit of a diatom issue.

Tank has been running 8 months. 75 gallon with hob power filter and Octo classic 2000. 2 clowns, bicolor ángel, blue jaw trigger, and filefish.

Diatoms feed on silicates, so if your RO water has silicates that could be contributing to your issue.

Hmmm. Have not seen a silicate test kit. How many of you guys test for silicate? And which test kit?
