I put a new float valve (BRS) on a brute and then found this part on the floor where I think I might have opened the bag it came in and unscrewed the nut that holds it on the bin. The tubing didn't seem to want to stay in initially. There was a plastic insert in the threaded part but wonder if there are supposed to be 2 pieces where the tube fits. Can someone tell me if this is part of the float switch tube fitting, and if it is, which way it goes?

If not, any ideas what it is from?
