Any one else having a rough week? Work and relocation is up in the air, current program is ending in 45 days, starting to say goodbyes to coworkers. All on top of just not a great time right now.

I think I'll go scroll through some FTS threads!

Hope y'all are doing ok!

Technically in Ashville, just south of Scioto Downs. Columbus is just easier to say! :D

I work for a company that implements energy efficiency programs for utility companies. A certain piece of legislation nuked us for the time being.

I know what legislation That was....I work in politics. I also know where Asheville is, where do you think you might be moving to or just a new job...

corey

Either, both, who knows at this point. Kind of sort of have a job offer in Wisconsin but it is waiting for approval and has gone on radio silence.

Politics huh? IThat sounds like the opposite of fun but explains why this time of year is busy!

Funny... you are having a rough week working within the energy field and today I have no electricity... hahaha. That said we have a gas powered reef tank today and apparently until tomorrow... thank goodness we have a massive generator! Lol. So to answer your question, yes it’s a little bit rough lol.

Perspective right? My rough week isn't trying to ride out a storm, power outage, or hurricane!

Luckily I’m in California so it’s just the power outages. Lots of hopes and well wishes for all those getting ready for or already dealing with the storms!!!

@BackToTheReef Sorry to hear the news, legislation is why I left Chillicothe a billion years ago(1980s), Columbus wasn't much better. In the Ozarks(north central Arkansas) we might get to see the hurricane roll past(we really need the rain) probably just get the wind (my luck).

I'll cross my fingers for the rain and not the wind!

Really rough week here too! I was scheduled to have Thursday and Friday off to move my freshman son into the dorms. On Monday they pushed move in back into late September. He was so disappointed. So I said I would work Thursday, but still wanted Friday off. i Crammed mon-weds full of inspections, so I’m beat, and in the meantime my Thursday is blowing up and I have to work Saturday morning. Crap just keeps piling up.

I feel ya! My daughter just started her Sophomore year and no one but the resident student was allowed in their building for move in so I was bummed b/c I was going to try and help this year. She didn't take much either b/c she said she didn't want to have to move it back in a few weeks if they closed campus.

Hopefully those inspections go smoothly for you!

Hi all,

I have a great pick me up for anyone when things get rough. Just stop in and read one of my wild and crazy threads. I promise it will leave you wondering how I even figured out how the water goes on the inside of the tank to begin with.

But, I can relate to bad weeks. I hope it works out. Just remember wherever you go there you are.

I feel like, of course don’t want him to go off to college and get sick with COVID, but he was so excited to go, like giddy, and I kept thinking please please let him get to go have this experience. the end of his senior year...Covid. His sr year robotics season cancelled after 5 years in the program...Covid. No prom. No band trip to Disney. No senior pranks. I was pregnant with him on 9-11. He got h1n1. last fall EEE cancelled most outdoor evening events. Like, I know life is like this, and in the end maybe he will be more flexible and patient and tolerant because of it. I just feel bad for him. Disappointed for him.

inspections so far are about 50/50 this week. I primarily inspect restaurants but right now am busy with child care centers and institutions. Sometimes it’s really...weird. I go in to a hoitie toitie fancy pants expensive child care center, and facility wise the carpet is torn, the paint is chipping, babies are crawling over a splintering wood transition strip...what the heck and When you ask, what’s going on with this carpet, the answer is oh, we can fix that with some duct tape!?! Then the next day I go into a very old church basement daycare, and it’s an old building, so things aren’t pretty, but it’s safe and well maintained and actually nice. And then I feel better about my job. Lol thanks for listening, therapy session complete.

A bunch of my daughter's friends were the class of 2020 so I got to hear some horror stories so I understand, sort of. My kid was lucky and was in the tail end of her freshman year when they closed campus so she had most of those first year experiences. I think you are right though, I think they will be more flexible and adaptable than we were/are.

Funny how that works right? Things that should be squared away aren't and then you get surprised by something you walk into with low expectations! One of the best daycares I ever took my daughter to was at one of the local bases. Super clean, taught the kids so much from a young age, and the heavily armed federal security/police at the gate didn't hurt things either!
