RR Roller Mat - end of roll question

Ok...I've searched, and have been unsuccessful at finding an answer...

I installed a RR Roller Mat 1200 - and when I did, it said I had 114.8 ft of fleece....and started counting down the days.

I got to 0 days, about five days ago, but there is still fleece on the original roll, so I left it alone. It appears to be working properly, but reef beat sends me messages everyday that I have 0 days left. It also shows that I've used 118.24 ft of my original 114.8 roll.

My question is....do I let it run completely out, or do I change it with a little fleece still on the original roll?

This roll has lasted me about 3 months so far - which I think is GREAT.

I replace mine when it completely runs out. The last part of the fleece is glued to the cardboard roll and won’t unroll anymore. As you have found out there is extra fleece on the roll.

Not a answer to your question but how many gallons is your tank, I’m deciding if I should do the 500 or 1200 for a 100gallon. 3 months lasting roll sounds great

I have a RR525 G1....It's 108 in the main tank, and 31 in the sump. I went back and forth, and decided to get the 1200 because it would last longer :)

How many fish do you have and how much you feed the tank, and donyou feed corals? What is your flow rate at u think hitting the roller mat. Do you think I’ll be good with the 500

I have 5 tangs, 2 clowns, 2 damsels, a melanarus wrasse, 1 file fish, 1 royal gramma, 1 lawnmower blenny, and 1 mandarin.

I don't feed the corals very often - just Reef Energy a couple of times a week.

I have a Vectra M1 pump (it's kind of old now, and may be close to the end of its life).....but it is rated for 2000gph and I have it set at 80%, so 1600gph.

I think a 500 would be fine for your tank - I almost got that for mine. You'll just have to change the rolls more often as they are smaller.

At max, plus sump. Just wondering how long would a roll last. I guess all depends on gph, fish, and feeding

I had a few times same issue, mine will dead stop around 121ft. Which is pretty much the end of the roll even though says 0 days. I guess there is some tolerance +/- in roll measurement. Just let it go and you will get basically a message where it will say u reached the end or jammed something like that.
