I'm setting up the sump under my aquarium and plan to use a rubber mat under the sump to make cleaning up water spills easier. This is the mat I purchased. Do you think this will be okay since it has a little thickness and is spongy (floor mat for concrete floor). My sump is a Tideline 36, so it is not glass.

Thanks

I quit putting mats down. The first time water is spilled it's going to end up under the mat with no way for it to dry out. On my previous set up I used sealed plywood. 12 months later when I redid the system, there was mold growing under it. I elevate my sump now with rubber feet so air can circulate and dry out if any water spills. I've had my share no matter how careful I am.

I can see how mold could grow under it. Ummm. Good thing I have a wood shop. I can always use the pad on the floor out there. I like the idea of feet. I'll look into something like that. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment. I just put plexiglass under mine. Still a work in process but that task is done.
