I’m looking into building a refugium / sump out of a 300 gallon Rubbermaid Stock Tank. How have others made partitions? Any pics would be appreciated.

I ended up giving up on searching for a good idea on how to do so! Following along :)

I have 1/4” acrylic to make the partitions out of and I’m thinking of just buying a ton of super glue to attach them, then a bead of silicone to assure a good seal. I found several pictures online but no how to’s.

If you ruff up the edges of the acrylic with sand paper the silicone will stick pretty good. More than enough for partitioning a sump.

Would the super glue help hold the panel better then the silicone?

I'd think the silicone would hold it just fine. You might have to come up with some sort of brace to hold the panel while the silicone sets. Tape might work . Also the silicone could fill in any larger spaces along the seam.
Just rough up the acrylic a 1/2 inch or so around the edges. I've done this many times with no problems.
Is this Rubbermaid tank rigid? Does "stock" mean for live stock?

Yes it’s meant for farm animals, and it’s a thick hard plastic. Like a Rubbermaid tote everyone uses to mix and store water but 1/2” thick.

Here’s another company that makes food grade ones called Freeland aswell. They have a lot more sizes then Rubbermaid.

I wonder if I left it completely open how I would keep my macro algae from entering my pumps.

Maybe build some sort of cage ? For either the Macro or the pump . I have no experience with a "large" open sump.
The return would need to be checked often for stuff blocking the intake.
