Ruby Sump 30 Trigger System Modification

I am purchasing the Ruby Sump 30 by Trigger which comes with built in filter sock holders. I really want to install a ReefMat 500 in the drain/skimmer section. Any suggestions on how to remove the filter sock holders? Do you think the ReefMat would fit in the section without removing the holders?

All you need for the ReefMat is to be able to run the hose from your main overflow pipe to the ReefMat.
