I wanted to ask anyone who has used the salifert calcium test kit. I followed the directions and when I pushed .6 of the Ca-2 into the test vile it stayed purple. I wound up having to add the whole amount plus a second amount of Ca-2 solution to the test vile all the way down until .45. Does this mean my calcium is at 775 ppm or what does that mean. If that’s the hat it means that would explain why my Mg reading is so high. Now perhaps I am reading this wrong but it would feel like my calcium is off the charts with a result of 1 1/2 syringe fulls of reagent.

Have you run multiple tests?

Is it a new kit? I've always found my color doesn't turn a deep blue when it is old, just more pale.

You are correct.
If the syringe empties use another and add them up for your reading.
Check your batch of salt after mixing.

I don’t have a Salifert Calcium Test Kit, but looking at the Syringe, it looks like a Titration Type. A magnetic stirrer does wonders for ease and accuracy on Titration.

If I had super high Mg and Ca, I'd strongly suspect my salinity was way high, and find another way to confirm my salinity.

I’m switching to instant ocean sea salt from reef salt. My salinity is 33 which is validated by my digital salinity meter.
