I've been at this for a year now but salinity still gets me, lol. So when I come home with a bunch of coral, I typically take water from my tank and use that as the dip water after Bayer. I have a BioCube 29 but total water volume is probably 22 - 24 gallons after sand/rock. That said, i'm down about 1 gallon of water. What salinity should my 1 gallon of water be mixed to so that when I add it to the tank, my salinity doesn't swing? Tank is 1.026, so I figured if the new water was 1.024 or so, there shouldn't be too much of a swing. Or am I wrong?

Correct me if im wrong but you should just top off with rodi water if it's just down from evaporation

True , but he's taking water out to add new corals, then he's adding water back in to fill it up.

Might be easier to add the corals, then remove the proper amount of water to make up for displacement.

I see now, then i would shoot for a target of 1.025 if your tank is 1.026 the k would do it at 1.024 and to bring it down a point

Thanks guys. I mixed the water to 1.024 and the salinity in the tank didn't budge an inch.
