Salt Water Mixing Stations Let's See Them!!

Looks like your saltwater container is on the bottom. It looks like it is very close to the bottom of the shelf for the freshwater... How do you get the salt into it to mix?
there is actually quite a bit of room between the two tanks. There is a 5" cap on the bottom tank just like the top and I just pour the salt in. I do plan to make a chute for pouring salt to make it quicker.....lol

Here's mine. I searched quite a while to find these tanks on the Internet. The cheapest place I found was tanksforless.com. The day after I ordered two a pair popped up in a local forum so I cancelled the order and bought the cheaper used set. If anyone ends up ordering from tanksforless.com make sure you call before you place your order. They were able to cut the shipping price in half from what their website was telling me and also move up the shipping date 3 weeks.

Similar in concept to most of the others, here is the interesting part:

I need to add valves and hose adapters to the two open tees, one is a "just in case" drain that does not require the pump, the other is the pump output. The pump is a MAG 7 I had laying around, hopefully it does not leak.

I use a large brute with the castors installed. When I'm ready to make saltwater I roll it over to the RO/DI under the sink to fill up. After its full I roll it over to the same room as the aquarium and drop in a heater and pump to mix. Then it's just drain the tank and pump in the new
that's how I roll
 
It really is,...just dump in a bag of salt,...I use IO,...buy 200gal boxes,...each comes with 4 50gal bags, so in my case 2 bags = 100gal water change. The mixer motor broke awhile ago,...so now I have a pump in barrel 1 that dumps into barrel 2 which mixes the salt in the two barrels which is an option if you don't want a mixer,.... until I find another motor on CL. :)
I don't suggest using stainless steel on salt water as it's not used on ships due to susceptibility to chloride stress corrosion cracking. For salt water piping they typically use titanium which is most resistant to issues with. salt water

Thanks for the heads up Tod ! I'm no longer using the motor with the mixer shaft and prop(stainless) as the motor died,....now I put a pump into barrel #1 that circulates/mixes water to barrel #2 thus mixing the salt for me.
Question,...is stainless steel in anyway detrimental to coral/fish as I have not removed the ss shaft from the water yet. Thanks,---Rick
 
I am planning the plumbing for my mixing station and have a question - my containers are 16G each and my pump will be a Mag 9.5. I will use the Mag 9.5 externally to mix the saltwater and also to pump saltwater to my aquarium using 5/8" internal diameter vinyl tubing. So question is, what size PVC should I use for the main plumbing? 3/4" or 1/2"?

You can use the size that exits the pump
 
For those following this thread, we have seen the stations, and I'd like to know how does everyone stirs the salt inside the containers.
 
If designed and plumbed correctly, just turn a couple ball valves and the pump designed into the system mixes the salt for you. It basically creates a loop within the salt water container.

You can use a small pump or powerhead inside the salt container to mix as well.

Hopefully that answers your question.

as u can c has a swirl because of the hose in it but I'd like to c the ideas other ppl has.
