Could anyone recommend some modern books I could pick up on reefing or saltwater tanks? I specify modern just because I'd like to be able to read about some of the newer equipment as well.

I think equipment changes so fast. Even in the year I have been keeping a salt water tank equipment and ideas have changed. I would recommend going through Bulkreef Supplies videos on Youtube. A lot of good info there as well as product reviews and how to set most of them up.

Thanks, I do watch BRS... I even binged watched 52 weeks of reefing. Who needs Netflix? I am still a fan of the good old book though.

The New Reef Aquarium by MR Laurren J Schmoyer.
Reef Aquarium by Brian Russell

And then there are the older books but none the less every bit as good and beneficial as any out today. Books by Julian Sprung, Delbeek and Fenner, Borneman, Ulrich, Paletta, Thiel, Tullock, Fatherree and Shimek just to name a few pioneers in the marine hobby.
You need to check out some of the awesome websites at your disposal as well. Some are AWESOME like:

Advancedaquarists.com
saltwatersmarts.com

Enjoy!
