So I'm looking at getting a sand sifter goby for my 25 gal long. Current livestock: -
- 1 Ocellaris Clown
- 1 Harlequin Shrimp
- 1 Cleaner Shrimp
- 2 Turbo Snails
- 1 Hermit Crab
- 1 Nassarius Snail

Pet store currently only has something known as a "Sand Milk Goby". Anyone know what this is and would it work? Also looking at getting a pistol shrimp (candy cane most likely), would it pair with it?

i cant think

I personally wouldn’t go with any of the valencienneas in a tank less than 4’ long. They’re active but also eat constantly and can run through microfauna in a nano quite fast. I’d recommend going with something else like a Koumansetta species.

The only species that will pair with a pistol shrimp are in the genera;
Cryptocentrus
Amblyeleotris
Stonogobiops

Cryptocentrus are slightly more aggressive than the other two genera are so I’d personally go with either a Stonogobiops species (Yasha Shrimp Gobies, Black Ray Shrimp Gobies, Dracula Shrimp Gobies) or an Amblyeleotris species (Aurora Shrimp Gobies, Randall Shrimp Gobies, Orange Spotted Gobies, Diagonal Shrimp Goby). If you go for an Orange Spot Goby, make sure it’s not the Valenciennea species and is in fact the much smaller Amblyeleotris species.
