I have 2 sapphire damsels in my 240g. The larger of the 2 always sweeps sand out of an area under the rock with its fins. Today, I came home and found the smaller one on the sand bed. First thought was "sick fish". Got out what meds I had. It moved to the corner and again I though ugh, sick. But watching it, it is doing the same thing as the bigger one. Lots of tail, fins and even open mouth movements. There is a snail shell in that corner that it seems to want out! It looks like it is trying to dig a hole.
I'm not sure if it is sick, trying to make a hole (there are plenty of caves), or breeding behavior? I don't see anything obvious. Possibly a spot or something but I can't say for sure it is ick or not or just marks. Tried to squirt food to it. not interested but not lethargic either. Very aggressive with the sand bed here and not acting sick. That sand is piled higher now.
