Sawing frags

I have a galaxea frag with a rather large and uneven coral skeleton. I want to saw the skeleton and have never done it before. I don’t own a saw and am looking at buying a cheap hacksaw. Is a hacksaw sharp enough? Is it easy? I hope to do it pretty quickly and easily. Thanks.

A hacksaw can work. Better might be a coping saw. It's very similar to a hack saw but the blade is thinner from cutting edge to the back side and it makes turning or cutting curved lines much easier.

Do you have a LFS near you? Mine lets me use their saw anytime I need to frag, I usually leave them a few frags for the conveience. I wouldn’t use a hacksaw.. remember it is an animal

I’ve got a ton of LFS. Never thought to ask. Great idea!

I’m looking forward to keeping the bottom part of the skeleton for the coralline and feather dusters. They’ll make themselves nice at home.
