Ok thank you for the information. I currently have the settings at 60B and 30W and the only coral that is bothered by it is the torch coral. Once the lights are off and the moon lights come on the torch coral opens up. What are your settings currently at?

Welcome to reef2reef!

With that tank size and light fixture you could eliminate most "hot spots" by removing the lenses. It will blend the color spectrums better as well. I pulled all of mine and it helped with blending and hot spots. (I have 3, 165w black boxes over my 125 gallon.

Light spill will always be a issue unless you do a canopy.

I did the same on my 90g tank. Pulled the lens covers and it help a ton with blending. There is a slight par loss when doing this though. I am not sure what the amount lost is, as I set my lights up once the covers were removed.

Welcome to R2R, I'm glad you posted your question. I have my first 18" sbreef light going over my lowboy frag tank. I know to back off the dials now, didn't realize they put that much out. Glad to have you!

So, re-trying this post. I have an SB. 36” Ultra. It’s probs 9” above the tank. I have glass lids. Been running at 80% across the board. Been fighting GHA and Cyano. I recently turned all 3 whites down to 50% and moved blues/purple up to 100%. Also moved my fuge light to whites 50% and blue/red at 100%. Am I on the right track?

Welcome to the R2R community

reducing whites always helps with algae control. New settings seem good- Monitor progress of new settings weekly
is your tank at or near a window??
