4 Hr KFC dip doesn’t seem to have helped hammer at all, will try again tomorrow if it isn’t perking up.

Did get my Tunze auto fill in though. Glad I don’t have to Jack with that anymore. The Tunze nano was brain dead, every morning I’d wake up, plug it in until it maxed out time and way overfilled and then unplug it again.

Also got diatoms like crazy again for some reason

Diatoms? How old is your tank? Could be Dinos, unless your silicates are high

5-6 months. It looks just like what I was getting when I first got my tank cycled, just on the sandbed and doesn’t clump up. Only thing that has changed is I changed my membrane on RO unit last week before I did WC. purged for 2 hours before use, But they didn’t start showing up until yesterday.

Maybe silicates getting through somehow. Do you have a microscope to rule out Dino’s?

So Sungod didn't RTN any further today. Still has more than half of the flesh and some PE today. Waiting and watching game for now. Still not sure what happened unless my phosphates bottomed out and it got mad... I dosed 0.10 yesterday when I got home and it was at 0.04 today when I tested. Maybe I need to bump up my phosphate dose to 15 ml, maybe even 20...

Alk was 8.1 which is right about where it sits (I've seen it as low as 8.0 and as high as 8.3).

Calcium and magnesium are stoat the normal (for my tank) 470 and 1260.

Nitrates are still around that 50 place.

Temperature isn't swinging that I've seen.

I need to get some monitors to record this stuff so I can look at trends rather than just a point in time.

Woohoo! My new tank is arriving tomorrow ! And the new light! I can star prep work and it might be ready to go in time for my SBB delivery! Figure it’ll be a pretty quick cycle since I’m using cured rock from the tank to seed it. I’ve also ordered a nano liferock package to supplement it. That’ll be here Saturday.
‘So today is my wife’s B-Day and our anniversary is on the 7th. Wife says thanks for the nice B-Day gifts and asks what I want for Anniversary. I respond with I assumed that the new tank was my gift. And she goes, ”as long as you know that’s the last one?”. I heartily agreed…does she remember she said the same thing at three tanks?

They can be. I wouldn’t get the most expensive but I wouldn't cheap out. Just took a look on Amazon this seems pretty solid

What exactly would I be looking for and how strong does the magnification really need to be? Heck this little $15 portable scope seems like a joke, but sounds like it actually works quite well. It’s only 60x-120x though. There’s also a 250x one for $20. Think that would work? See obviously spending $100 on a microscope isn’t much, but you gotta realize if I bust out a microscope like that, my wife is going to think I’m off the deep end for sure.

If you can get 100x magnification it should be fine
