Added a new dosing container, recalibrated my doser, cleaned up my dosing lines and added Acro Power to my daily dosing schedule.

My 50 Gallon SCA should be here, this week. I'll be taking my time researching and acquiring all of my equipment, so probably won't start my own build thread for awhile. In the meantime, I wanted to thank you for this build thread. I have been through so many, and many of them are very good, but I think that yours has had the most impact on me, as far as preparation for my own build. This will be my first saltwater/reef tank, and you've been a huge help in educating me on setup. Thank you, and please keep updating!

Thanks you so much for the kind words, if you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to ask.

If it isn’t too much to ask, You have a photo of the inside of your overflow box, as far as the two drains? I understand the concept of the Herbie setup, but I want to make sure that I am correct on the use of the pvc that came with the pnp. I have the parts for your connect to the sump, as I really like the sharp appearance and functionality of what you did.

No problem at all I actually only used the strainer and return T pipe from the kit. I just cut an overflow and emergency drain pipe out of the same pvc I used to plumb the tank.

Time for an update, some good and some bad. The acros I received from @Battlecorals are doing great, however I am currently fighting what I believe to be Dino’s. I ordered a Marineland polishing filter to be used as a diatom filter and have stoped water changes for the moment. The filter came in the mail today and DE should be here on Monday. We will see how things go.

This thread has been perfect! I'm hopefully picking up this same set-up this weekend from someone selling on here, so this has been invaluable in planning my plumbing, etc. Thanks!
Thanks, if you have any questions feel free to ask, I will be doing a update soon. Work has been crazy busy.

Wow it has been a long time since I updated this, things get pretty crazy around my house in the summer time. Everything is going great, the Dino’s are completely gone and all the corals have recovered and are growing nicely.

Non reef related but my daughter finally picked out the lizard she wanted and we got the cage all set up this weekend. Picked up Her Uromastyx on Sunday and while I was there I could help but picking up the most beautiful Leopard Wrasse I have seen in a long time.

Here is my Daughter after setting up the terrarium she is so proud to have done almost all of it by herself!!!

And now I would like everyone to meet the newest addition to our household “Lemon” the Uromastyx

Within 5 minutes of being in the cage my Daughter had Lemon eating out of her hand. I am so proud of my little princess.

Sorry to make you read through all of that non fish related stuff but we are very excited to have a new family member. Here are a few shots of the new Wrasse.

Awesome update! My daughter has been helping me with my tank, as kind of a "prove-it" deal for getting her own lizard. I'll be sharing this with her, tonight!
If you do decide to get her a lizard look into Uromastyx they have about the same temperament and care as a bearded dragon but slower and easier to handle right away for younger kids. Plus it won’t be a lizard many other people have and a huge benefit for us is they are strictly vegetarian so no bugs in the house
