You could always scrub the gha off in a bucket of saltwater and then add it. An established rock will help big time! Add a few snails once it's manageable. Best of luck to you :)

I was think that and hitting it with peroxide. Hopefully the algae scrubber will help keep the tank looking decent

I have had good success with getting rid of GHA with peroxide. I would take one rock out per week and soak it in peroxide for awhile then scrub it with a brush. I then would do a RODI dip to remove the dead organics. I have used a turf scrubber for many years and mine is a DIY old school version and it works just fine. Remember to be patient and expect your take to go through stages as it matures.

That’s my plan for this week. Should be able to get it pretty clean before moving it.

I think everything is good! I had a few leaks in my bulkheads and somehow I was missing two o-rings from unions but after 2 more trips to Home Depot, the tank is plumbed and running. I have a few more things to hook up and move livestock and I’ll be in business. I’ve been running the lights the last few weeks and noticed some diatoms growing. The tanks been cycling since just before Christmas.

looking great. I am a big fan of T5. I always had my best coral growth and color under them. I am currently running LEDs for the first time and while they are great I miss the way T5 performed.

Thanks. It’s taking some getting use to the T5s and not being able to adjust the colors. The tank is a little white for my liking. I think I’m going to change out my coral+ for an atinic or another blue+

I transferred everything over and picked up some stuff from a local frag swap this weekend. One of my RBTA went missing but I’m sure it’ll turn up somewhere.

Looking great. I have learned not to rush it too much with bulb changes. I used to change mine every 6 months religiously and to stick to what I liked based on the goals of my tank and my little 56 column tank did very well for 5 straight years.

Things have been going well in the tank lately. I added a few new corals and 6 RBTA. The tank went through a few weeks of the uglies, but I did a water change and scrubbed the rock with a toothbrush and things look great now. Picked up a cuc from reef cleaners but the astraea snails weee all doa and they completely left out my hermit crabs so I got some locally. I also picked up 2 fighting tiger conchs which are pretty awesome. My daughter comes in and looks for them every day lol. The zoas don’t seem too happy in the tank and has a few melt but LPS are all looking very happy and growing. I’m picking up a few SPS this weekend from a friend to see how they do in the tank.

Everything has been doing well lately. A few bta have gone Mia, one had a run in with a power head but nice got 4 in the tank now. I’ve completely moved my office down next to the tank so needless to say I get distracted a bit during the day lol

I haven’t updated in a while. Some things are good some things not so much. I switch lights to gen 5 Xr15s in the fall. I’m really liking the color they’re producing. I’ve been battling green cyano for some time. I do weekly water changes and scrub along with coral snow and mb7. I’m going to start vacuuming the sand, some one suggest nutrients could be caught up in there. Maybe I’ll remove it all together. I did an order from Aqua SD during their live sale and got some nice corals.
